What is a blog?

A blog is a connection to your audience, keeping visitors entertained and informed.  It can be formal or conversational to talk about subjects of interest and promote specific products and services.  It keeps your website dynamic and can easily be shared on social media.  A more engaged audience translates to return visits and increased sales.

Static websites that aren’t updated regularly do not generate return traffic.  A blog is simple way to keep current and continue building a loyal following.

How often should I post a blog?

There is a fine line between too much and too little when it comes to content for your website and social media.  A blog post daily can be overwhelming and infrequent posts can feel like tumbleweed blowing in the wind.  While there are exceptions to every rule, it is wise to aim for 2 to 4 blog posts per week.  

What topics should I cover?

Creativity is expected when you’re writing a blog.  Sometimes it is as simple as a personal experience and how it impacts what you do and why.  People want to connect!  Write what you know, and read up on subjects that are relevant to your website and write about it.  

What's your hook?

A creative headline is important to gain interest and get the click!  Keep your title relevant to the actual story and avoid click bait titles where your story and title are disconnected.  A title should be attention getting, and convey what someone might learn in reading more.  A top list (top 5), a benefit list (4 benefits of X), can all draw attention and also give the reader scope of how much reading your post may have. 

Should I have pictures?

The short answer is yes.  Having visuals in your blog adds depth to your post and gives it life.  You don’t need to go overboard with pictures, but there should be a couple of pictures in every blog post.  

In addition to your words, pictures add personality!
